The Blue Springs South Jaguars and Liberty Bluejays slugged it out with the teams combining for 15 runs and almost 30 hits between them. Liberty would come out victorious with a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th to finish off the Jags 8-7.
Breana Barchak took the loss for the Jags throwing 7 innings, scattering 13 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
Thank he Jays jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Jags would answer in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to take a 6-1 lead.
Liberty would answer with a 6 run inning where they would rattle off 6 straight hits.
The Jags weren’t done in the 7th when Elle Smith led off the inning with a triple to the right center gap. She would come home on a wild pitch to tie the game. South just wasn’t able to get anything else going that inning to take the lead.
The bottom of the seventh would see Liberty walk it off after a walk, hit and a double.
Smith would lead South offensively going 3-for3 with an RBI, including a triple and 2 walks.
McKenna Lester and Tori Bradley would go 2-for-5 with 3 and 2 RBIs respectively. Emily Berry would add 3 hits of her own to help the Jags’ offensively. But South would leave 12 runners on base over 7 innings.
The Jags fall to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in conference. South will host Liberty North on Thursday at 4 pm before traveling to the Winnetonka/Park Hill South Tournament this weekend.
