The Jags lose a see-saw battle with Lee’s Summit North on Tuesday at Bronco Field, 6-5.
North took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd, taking advantage of a walk and a Jaguar error.
The Broncos tacked on another run in the 3rd with 3 straight hits to start the inning, but he Jags would come roaring back in the 4th. After a pair of Bronco errors, Regi Hecker would come around to score, and Bailey Brumley would have her first hit and RBI of the night, driving in a run after Tori Bradley’s walk with a ricochet off the fence for a triple to tie the game at 2.
North would plate their 3rd run of the evening in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead again, 3-2. But South wasn’t done yet. In the 6th, Hecker led off with a double, stoke 3rd and then scored on Addie Lightner’s single to left.
Brumley would add her second extra-base hit with an RBI double for the Jags to take their first lead of the game, 4-3. Brumley would later score on an error by the Broncos on Lauren Good’s infield groundball.
But the 2-run lead wouldn’t hold for the Jags. Lee’s Summit North would come back in the bottom of the inning to take advantage of another South error while stringing together 4 hits in the inning to take the 6-5 lead regardless of Hecker’s throw from center to nail a Bronco runner at the plate.
The Jags are now 15-6 and will host District 13 play next week; brackets should be out later this week. South closes conference season at 5-5.
