It was a back-and-forth game at Blue Springs South between the Jaguars and Raymore-Peculiar until the Jags decided to end it with a homerun and walk-off triple in a comeback victory to end the game 6-5 over the Panthers.
The Jags came out in the first and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a McKenna Lester wall and Tori Bradley triple.
But the Panthers would answer in the second with a run of their own to tie up the game at 1.
The 3rd inning would see Ray-Pec score another run to take a 2-1 lead, but South would answer again in the bottom of the inning to tie it at 2.
In the 5th, The Panthers would push another run across, but again, the Jags would answer in the bottom of the inning.
But in the 6th, Ray-Pec would take advantage of 3 straight hits and take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the 7th.
The Jags would begin the 7th with a a ground out, but would take advantage of a 1-out walk to Elle Smith to bring the tying run, Lester, to the plate.
After a wild pitch and working a 2 strike count, Lester would line a 2-2 pitch over the centerfield wall for a 2 run homerun to tie the game at 5.
Bradley would add a 3rd hit, her second double, of the night to continue the rally to get the winning run into scoring position. Bradley would end the night 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI.
Lauren Good would step to the plate after a Bailey Brumley fielder’s choice and line a walk off triple into the left field corner to seal the win for the Jags.
Brumley started the game in the circle and went 5 innings, scattering 7 hits and 3 runs for a no decision.
Bre Barchak came in the game in relief in the 6, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs.
But the Jags were able to overcome the deficit and take the win to move their record to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in Big 8 Conference play.
South travels to Liberty tomorrow for a 4:30 contest, and the Jags will return home on Thursday to take on Liberty North.
