Game Recap

South claims it’s 2nd straight Suburban 7 Conference title with a 2-0 come from behind win vs. visiting Park Hill. South trailed by a large margin in set one but some great effort on defense kept the Jags alive to pull out the win.

BSS will be co-conference champs with Lee’s Summit as both teams finished 9-3 in conference play (Blue Springs, BSS, Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit North, Lee’s Summit West, Ray-Pec and Park Hill). BSS defeated Lee’s Summit in the first round of conference play but fell to the Tigers one week ago on their floor.

“We’ve had to work though some adversity and it’s great to be able to teach the girls how it took a lot of hard work and grit to get to this point.” “We had a lot of girls contribute and in a variety of ways this season.” “Our dept and durability really paid off.” “We’ve had several line up changes, position changes, injuries and sickness.” “Lots of teams go through those things and it can end things quickly but the girls battled through and I’m proud of them for all the time they sacrificed to represent their school this season.” “It’s great to have an honor like a conference title to remember this group.”

“I’m very proud of Coach Ron Goins and his JV squad. They were undefeated in conference this season and are 25-1 going into this weekends season ending tournament at Columbia-Hickman.”

Varsity will travel to Grain Valley next week (Wednesday, October 18th) for the District Semifinals (5PM vs. winner of Hickman/Rock Bridge) and possibly finals which will be held later that evening.

South is the #1 Seed, Grain Valley #2 and Jefferson City is #3.

Meet Recap

This was a very successful weekend for us against some of the best competition in the state. The COMO meet is always one of the fastest and deepest meets every year and this was no exception.
Alex Burt and Micah Currie continue to show that they are both favorites to be state medalists in diving.
Our 200 and 400 free relays both achieved automatic state qualifying times. Almost every single race for us was a best time on the year, so I was extremely satisfied with our results.

We had 3 medalists overall on Saturday. Alex Burt and Micah Currie in diving and Chase Graham in the 500 freestyle.

JV Conference is this Thursday and Varsity Conference is next week starting on Thursday October 19th with diving.
