Multiple Teams · Weekend Recap- State Champions, Raider Nationals, and More!

This weekend was extremely successful for Blue Springs South! We are so proud of the way these awesome teams represent South and are extremely impressed with all of these amazing teams and their coaches. Please join us in congratulating these Jags on their accomplishments!

To start off with a bang, our softball team held their ranking as STATE CHAMPS for the 2nd year in a row. Softball has been in the state final the past 4 years and have won back to back in 2018 and 2019! We are so proud of the hard work these girls always put forth and so exciting to see them come out on top!

The South JROTC Raider Team traveled to Molena, Georgia this past weekend to compete in the JROTC All-Service Raider Nationals competition and finished 5th overall in the nation against the top Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine high school JROTC units across the country!  This is the second consecutive top-5 finish at Nationals for our male team, commanded by Perry Hunt.  Team members are Jacob Call, Thomas Hooten, Marcus Hoyt, Jeramiah Jones, Shawn Jordan, Hayden Kolster, Chris Langston, Joey Lorek, Brett Nyquist, Austin Palmer, Isaac Todd, and Connor Wood.Two of our lady Jaguar Raiders, Claire Hicks and Bailey Smith, combined with Lee’s Summit West cadets and finished 2nd overall in the nation as Female Division National Champion Runners-Up!  This is now the second year in a row that our JROTC cadets have earned a National Champion Runner-Up award, following up on our male team earning 2nd overall last year.

Boys Swim and Dive won 5th Place overall at Sectionals. Ryan Griffel, George Bahr, Landon Luke, and Josh Hafner placed 2nd in the 200 medley relay racing in at 4 seconds under the state cut. Following that, Landon Luke placed 6th in the 50 freestyle. Sophomore George Bahr secured a 5th place spot and a cut for State as well. Ryan Griffel also qualified for state in the 100 meter backstroke race. Congratulations, Boys Swim and Dive!

Varsity football traveled far to secure a 42-13 win on the road! The boys will travel to Troy this Friday, in hopes to bring home another win and continue their season.

Girls Cross Country qualified themselves for State for the 6th consecutive year with a 2nd place in Sectionals! Medalists include Mya Trober in 2nd as well as Lauren Low, Caitlin Grover, McKenna Ledgerwood and Paige Fallis.

Boys Cross Country placed 5th overall in Sectionals hosted at Liberty North and from there, we have 3 state qualifying Boys Cross Country Members! Senior Dillon Grover made second team all sectional with his 12th place finish, he ran a time of 16:42.40, Senior Jack Klassen qualified for the state meet finishing in 25th place with a time of 17:00.10, Sophomore Alex Jackson also made it to the state meet finishing in 30th place with a time of 17:00.70. Dillon, Jack, and Alex and they will have much support as they compete at the new State Course hosted for the first time in Columbia.
